Teens working

Recently it became very popular to work for teenagers. Of course the willing of earning own money is good, but I want to talk about the other side of this topic. I think not all of teens work due to not having money. They work because they have nothing else to do. They don't have any plans for their future. They work because their friends work too. It's kind of a trap for those teens who already have plans, but their friends blame on them for not having job and taking money from their parents.

I don't want to afford a job now, because I have lots of work to do for my future. I see myself as an astrophysicist, and only job I want to do is to work on my profession. My parents give me money, not as much as I want, but as much as I need. And I'm not upset about that at all.

English lesson revision

In 12 grade I haven't learnt much new things in english, because we have already learnt everything in previous grades. This year we had lots of discussions on different topics.

I suggest to continue such kind of discussions, because it is very interesting and also doesn't require much time to prepare as I have lots of extra lessons to do for my entrance exams.

If by Rudyard Kipling

Today is August 4

Today is August 4, 2018. Yesterday was my 17th birthday. I had crazy day, so today I need a rest. I will watch movies and animes  whole day and prepare for August 6's hiking to mt. Aragats.

Today is August 4, 2026. This is gonna be hard day. My friends and I will present our science work about new galaxies to our director at NASA. I'm very exited, we'd been working very hard for it. If he like it, we would have chance for promotion. Also small vacation to Dubai or Maldives.

Today is August 4, 2094. I'm grand daughter of Siranoush. Im 47 years old. I'm writing you from spaceship to Mars. I'm here with my school friends, as visiting Mars was our dream since we were child. We've been flying for a couple of months and soon we will land. We're very exited...

*Mars crashes to Earth*

The end of the story.

Old man at the bridge

The story was about an old man, who was taking care of animals. But soon left them because of artillery. He was worried for them. “I was taking care of animals,” he said dully, but no longer to me. “I was only taking care of animals.”  Bridge-connection between life and death. Dove-symbol of peace. The carrying man

Spectacles, artillery, shepherd, herdsman, rimmed, cart, dully.

Laughter by William Saroyan

Everything that was said by my friends. I don't want to think what can make me cry, because in that case I will cry. But maybe pain can make me cry. Yes I agree with it. People can't just laugh when they want. There must hear something comical, or remember something funny. There must be something that will make you laugh. This boy wanted to do something good. He wanted to make his teacher happy. But all turned around. At first he couldn't do it. It just made teacher angry with him. But at the end teacher took all the happiness of he boy and he became sad. So I think yes, you want to do something but always do something else... But not in all cases.

Bad teacher. Teacher shouldn't do such psychological trick on her student. If she wanted to become happy she should find another way for it.

V. Ananyan "Pitiful look"

I was young, nearly 14 years old.

One morning our neighbor Artenants Arshak came and knocked our door. I opened.

-Give me your gun.-he said.-I saw rabbits at the Jughtak fountains, and I want to shoot one.

I gave him my gun and he went away.

At the afternoon Arshak came back. All in sweat.

-I hurt one a little, but it escaped to the Badalants hill and i lost it.- said he regretfully.

-Hey man, hunting is not everyone's work,- Said I boasting, took my gun and set off.

When I reached the place that Arshak said, I saw new footprints of rabbit on the snow.

It ran with 3 legs, because one was hurt. After some steps I saw blood on the snow.

"It is not going to run from me" - happily thought I and went on.

Footprints were through the stones, stumps, scrubs.

Wounded was sitting in a high place. The footprints of three legs were clearly seen. Instead of right leg there were blood that covered the white snow.

Footprint ended at he big rock in front of me. When I reached that rock, I nodded and looked through the hole under the rock, the rabbit was laying in it's nest with another small rabbit and put it's hurt leg in the fur of that small rabbit.

Hurt rabbit looked at me with pitiful look and didn't want to run away. Immediately I turned back and went to village.

That pitiful look...

I saw Arshak when he was bringing water for his mammals.

He looked at me with irony and asked.

-Hey, did you bring that rabbit? No! So why were you boasting.

What should I say? Or if I say, would he understand?

Most important things for happier life

I thing that there is no that most important thing that we need to be happier. Everything is important. Our health is important, because we cant be happy if we are sick. So we must do exercises to keep us healthy or if we have some troubles, we should visit a doctor. Our job is important. We can't be happy if we do the job that we don't like. So everyone should do the job he really likes. It's also important to be in a good relationship with people, because bad relationships can cause stress. Bad things happen to everyone, but life keeps going, so we should too. We should keep learning new things. Every new thing that we learn makes as a bit more happier. Also spend much time with friends. Every person has it's own opinion about thing that makes him happy. But I think the things that I said should be the same fore everyone.

If I were a doctor

I have never wanted to become a doctor. I'm afraid of blood and I hate biology. But I think that being doctor is very necessary and important job. Doctors cure many people. Not everyone can be a doctor. For a good doctor patient's life must be the most important thing. They should not work for money. Also they should do their work with pleasure. I think that the hardest work for doctors is surgery. They should be very careful, because one wrong move and their patient will die. They must have strong character. It's very responsible work, because patient's life depends on you...

So the work of doctor is not for me...

Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens was the well-loved and prolific British author of numerous works that are now considered classics.

Synopsis

British novelist Charles Dickens was born on February 7, 1812, in Portsmouth, England. Over the course of his writing career, he wrote the beloved classic novels Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, Nicholas Nickleby, David Copperfield, A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations. On June 9, 1870, Dickens died of a stroke in Kent, England, leaving his final novel, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, unfinished.

Early Life

Famed British author Charles Dickens was born Charles John Huffam Dickens on February 7, 1812, in Portsmouth, on the southern coast of England. He was the second of eight children. His father, John Dickens, was a naval clerk who dreamed of striking it rich. Charles Dickens’ mother, Elizabeth Barrow, aspired to be a teacher and school director. Despite his parents’ best efforts, the family remained poor. Nevertheless, they were happy in the early days. In 1816, they moved to Chatham, Kent, where young Charles and his siblings were free to roam the countryside and explore the old castle at Rochester.

In 1822, the Dickens family moved to Camden Town, a poor neighborhood in London. By then the family’s financial situation had grown dire, as John Dickens had a dangerous habit of living beyond the family’s means. Eventually, John was sent to prison for debt in 1824, when Charles was just 12 years old.

Following his father’s imprisonment, Charles Dickens was forced to leave school to work at a boot-blacking factory alongside the River Thames. At the rundown, rodent-ridden factory, Dickens earned six shillings a week labeling pots of “blacking,” a substance used to clean fireplaces. It was the best he could do to help support his family. Looking back on the experience, Dickens saw it as the moment he said goodbye to his youthful innocence, stating that he wondered “how [he] could be so easily cast away at such a young age.” He felt abandoned and betrayed by the adults who were supposed to take care of him. These sentiments would later become a recurring theme in his writing.

Much to his relief, Dickens was permitted to go back to school when his father received a family inheritance and used it to pay off his debts. But when Dickens was 15, his education was pulled out from under him once again. In 1827, he had to drop out of school and work as an office boy to contribute to his family’s income. As it turned out, the job became an early launching point for his writing career.

Early Writing

In the same year that Sketches by Boz was released, Dickens started publishing The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club. His series of sketches, originally written as captions for artist Robert Seymour’s humorous sports-themed illustrations, took the form of monthly serial installments. The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club was wildly popular with readers. In fact, Dickens’ sketches were even more popular than the illustrations they were meant to accompany.

Around this time, Dickens had also become publisher of a magazine called Bentley’s Miscellany. In it he started publishing his first novel, Oliver Twist, which follows the life of an orphan living in the streets. The story was inspired by how Dickens felt as an impoverished child forced to get by on his wits and earn his own keep. Dickens continued showcasing Oliver Twist in the magazines he later edited, including Household Words and All the Year Round, the latter of which he founded. The novel was extremely well received in both England and America. Dedicated readers of Oliver Twist eagerly anticipated the next monthly installment.

Over the next few years, Dickens struggled to match the level of Oliver Twist’s success. From 1838 to 1841, he published The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, The Old Curiosity Shop and Barnaby Rudge.

In 1842, Dickens and his wife, Kate, embarked on a five-month lecture tour of the United States. Upon their return, Dickens penned American Notes for General Circulation, a sarcastic travelogue criticizing American culture and materialism.

In 1843, Dickens wrote his novel The Life and Adventures of Martin Chuzzlewit, a story about a man’s struggle to survive on the ruthless American frontier. The book was published the following year.

Over the next couple of years, Dickens published two Christmas stories. One was the classic A Christmas Carol, which features the timeless protagonist Ebenezer Scrooge, a curmudgeonly old miser, who, with the help of a ghost, finds the Christmas spirit.

Fame

Biographer J.B. Priestly wrote that during the tour, Dickens “had the greatest welcome that probably any visitor to America has ever had.”

“They flock around me as if I were an idol,” bragged Dickens, a known show-off. Although he enjoyed the attention at first, he eventually resented the invasion of privacy.

His 76 readings earned him no less than $95,000, which, in the Victoria era, amounted to approximately $1.5 million in current U.S. dollars.

Back at home, Dickens had become so famous that people recognized him all over London as he strolled around the city collecting the observations that would serve as inspiration for his future work.

Later years

In 1845, after Dickens had toured the United States once, he spent a year in Italy writing Pictures from Italy. Over the next two years he published, in installments, his next novel, Dealings with the Firm of Dombey and Son. The novel’s main theme is how business tactics affect a family’s personal finances. It takes a dark view of England and was pivotal to Dickens’ body of work in that it set the tone for his other novels.

From 1849 to 1850, Dickens worked on David Copperfield, the first work of its kind; no one had ever written a novel that simply followed a character through his everyday life. In writing it, Dickens tapped into his own personal experiences, from his difficult childhood to his work as a journalist. Although David Copperfield is not considered Dickens’ best work, it was his personal favorite. It also helped define the public’s expectations of a Dickensian novel.

During the 1850s, Dickens suffered two devastating losses: the deaths of his daughter and father. He also separated from his wife during that decade, with Dickens slandering Kate publicly.

His novels also began to express a darkened worldview. In Bleak House, published in installments from 1852 to 1853, he deals with the hypocrisy of British society.

Coming out of his “dark novel” period, in 1859 Dickens published A Tale of Two Cities, a historical novel that takes place during the French Revolution. He published it in a periodical he founded, All the Year Round. His next novel, Great Expectations (1860-1861), focuses on the protagonist’s lifelong journey of moral development. It is widely considered his greatest literary accomplishment. A few years later, Dickens produced Our Mutual Friend, a novel that analyzes the psychological impact of wealth on London society.

Death

In 1865, Dickens was in a train accident and never fully recovered. Despite his fragile condition, he continued to tour until 1870. On June 9, 1870, Dickens had a stroke and, at age 58, died at Gad’s Hill Place, his country home in Kent, England. He was buried in Poet’s Corner at Westminster Abbey, with thousands of mourners gathering at the beloved author’s gravesite. Scottish satirical writer Thomas Carlyle described Dickens’ passing as “an event worldwide, a unique of talents suddenly extinct.” At the time of Dickens’ death, his final novel, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, was left unfinished.

Karditsa, Greece

Karditsa is built close to tributary of Peneus River, in an area perfect for commercial contact between the plain and mountain area (31.000 inhabitants). This is one of the reasons why it is the rural center of Thessaly products (cotton, wheat and products of cattle raising) collection and distribution. With its two big squares, the huge park and beautiful pedestrian precincts, Karditsa gives to its visitors the opportunity to go around the city by bicycle (it has a wide network of bicycle streets) and enjoy its beauty. In 1821, the plague epidemic decimated the city population. Its revival began after the liberation from Turks in 1881. Karditsa was the first free city in Europe after the withdrawal of Italian army on March 1943 during the Second World War. Its final liberation from German army took place in September 1944. It is located 303 km NW of Athens and 228 km SW of Thessaloniki.

How to change the world

Everyone in their life at least once have thought about changing the world to make it better place.

I think that one person can't change the world. Everyone have their role in that deed. Everyone should do something. People love being a human and living on the Earth, and have no time to think about the world around them. They do not notice that this world needs changes.

For example should do kindness as much as they can. Should help old people...

Make fun ideas that will force people to the in the right way. People should understand that they can live, not only survive. They should enjoy their life.

People should pay more attention on plants: plant trees, water the flowers and remove garbage from nature.

If people do the job they really like, working will be enjoyable. And there won't be so much criminals, that don't want to work. I think that the role of teacher is very huge in that question. Teacher should teach well. Every child has it's own interests, and needs unique approach.

Problems that we face these days seem to be endless. And if every person do some improvements, there will be lots of changes.

Which method of communication to use

10 years ago we thought why send sms when you can call and say what you want. Nowadays we say why to call if you can send sms. Technology is improved and we don’t imagine our life without social communication. Technology is great for communication when it comes to connecting with family and friends who live far away. But sometimes we overdo our social communication. I think when we can, we should speak face to face or call, but not send sms. Sometimes students communicate with their phones when they are in the same classroom. That’s bad. But when you are at home, you can video call your friends and chat. Now I mostly use my phone. It’s very comfortable, because you can use your phone not only for calls, also for video calls, chatting, games, camera, reading books, sending photos, sharing memories, for flashlight… We should thank those people who created smartphones. Nowaday I can’t imagine my life without smartphones. So I can’t give advices like “don’t use smartphones too much, try to communicate face to face”. :)

All happiness in a day

Before reading “All summer in a day” of Ray Bradbury, I thought that happiness can’t be just in a day, it is a long lasting emotion that appears when great things happen. And would make you happy for a long time. But now I realized that small thing like sun , can make thousands of people happy. Sun is small for us, because we accustomed to existence and no one notice how huge work sun does for us. Story tells us that people who live on Venus, can see the Sun only once per 7 years. That’s why the happiest day for them is the day they see the Sun and feel it’s heat. Now I know that small things like Sun’s heat can make people happy, and it isn’t necessary happiest things to be big. You can be happy, because you have friends and you can laugh with them, your family is health, and so do you. It is already happiness if you can feel the heat of the Sun, because many other people can’t. It is happiness that you can go to school, because there are poor children, who must work from too early age to earn money for food or medicine for their sick parents. We don’t think that such things are the happiness, because these are usual for us, so let’s notice everything around us and be happy, because we are already happy. :)

A day from my diary

30/08/15

Hello dear diary. Tomorrow is the last day of Summer. I am very sad, because I don’t want to go to school. Now I am sitting in my bed and watching my photos of summer. This year I went to many-many interesting places. I went to Aghavnavank, Meghradzor, Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory, Karabagh and Dilijan. Now I am remembering that and becoming sad.

In the morning I woke up very early and did some morning exercises, then had a light breakfast. My mom wasn’t good that day, so I went for shopping myself. I bought new things for school, copybooks, pens, pencils. But on the other side I am very happy, because tomorrow I am going to visit to Byurakan. I saw many telescopes there. Tomorrow I will see the biggest one. I am very excited. I am looking forward for tomorrow. I have to sleep now, because tomorrow I will get up at 8 o’clock. So good night dear diary.

Social networks

I registered only on facebook. I use my account to chat with friends, to see their photos, to know news, to see beautiful or funny images and to know interesting information and facts. Some people also play games on facebook, but I don’t like these games, so I don’t play. I think that facebook is useful social network. But the other social networks are just different copies of it, so i think that to register more than on one social network is just waste of time.

Online dating

I think that online dating is not good method of dating. I think that people should see each others faces in real life, not on the internet, because these photos can be photoshopped. People should know each others behavior in real life, because before typing, we think long time and type that words that will be more polite.

One day a girl wrote me, that she likes my photos and wants to become friend with me. When I asked which country she is from, she said that from Iran. After that we became friends, but now we don’t talk at all.

Part -time jobs in my country

In Armenia you can work as house-worker, postman, shop-assistant, library-assistant, programmer. Part-time jobs are very popular. Students work after lessons and earn money. They buy presents for their friends and relatives. For example my cousin worked as programmer when he was studying at the university. He collected his money and bought him new phone and other presents for us.

What would I do if I be one of the great thinkers

If I be one of the 18 great thinkers, I will think about being forever young. I think it is fun to live many many years. You can see what will happen in the future, you can visit all interesting places of the world… If I could live so long, I will write books about my adventures. But I don’t want to be in the same body all the time. I think that in the future you can easily change your body how you like. When you want young body, you will change it, or the same for opposite way.

I thought about what I have written above, and understood that if my writings be real, it will be the end of the world!!

However, another neighborhood dog quickly ran past our house, and our dog sped after to catch him. I hurriedly went to grab my coat so I could follow my dog, and then I rushed outside.

What’s the minimum amount of sleep you need every night?

Doctors say, that people in my age need to sleep 8.5-10 hours. But I sleep only 6.5-7.5.

I can’t feel good at the lessons, when I sleep 7 hours. It’s too little for me. I want to sleep at lessons and teacher says that I am not listening the lesson. I go to bed very late, at 12:30 or 1:00. I wake up at 8:10 and go to school at 8:20. I think it’s not good timetable that I need. But I can’t go to bed earlier, because I have many lessons to do. When I have less lessons, I watch film and when film ends, clock shows 12 o’clock.

British and American english

I prefer to use British english. It is more familiar for me than American one. The way they speak and write is easy for me. It’s the original english that I want to learn. I think that everyone must know British english before learning American. Americans like to make words and phrases easy and short for speaking and writing. Same word can have different pronunciation. They speak fast. Both englishes have their good and bad sides. Sometimes I use American english. It depends on which word I liked the best.

Role of wi-fi in our life

Many people use wi-fi in their home. They search for many things on the internet. Many answers or different questions people know from the internet. Some people play games to spend their free time. Some of them don’t want to spend money on books and read them online. Other people use wifi for online films, reports and courses. Other ones like to download a lot of music, to speak on skype, to visit facebook and other apps like that. People prefer wi-fi connection, because it’s more comfortable than USB connection. You can connect with many devices together. Some people say, that wi-fi is harmful for health. But no one pay attention at that fact.

Some people and I don’t imagine their life without wi-fi.

Honesty is lonely word

I think, that honesty is lonely word, because usually people don’t use it to describe someone. There are some peoples, that don’t know about the word. They are evil. Sometimes people don’t use this word, because there are no one to describe, to talk about. This word is only in dictionaries and vocabularies, in fairy tales and stories. There are a few honestly people.

One of my beautiful days

One day my family and I went to dance contest. There were a lot of people. We were sitting at the farthest side of the hall. That’s why I couldn’t see the concert close. But even from afar I understood and saw that it was a beautiful concert. There were 15 pairs. all the dancers danced very well. We had relatives there. They win 3rd place. But I think that they could win 2nd place, if they do better work. But they didn’t have enough time. At the first action they fixed 5th place. But at the second action send them to the benefit of winning better places. We gave them flowers and congratulated for good dancing and winning. After concert dancers and we went to restaurant. We had there a long and interesting talk about dance and good supper…))

Activities that I can’t do well, but enjoy

I like to swim. Swimming in the summer is one of my hobbies. I went to swimming courses last year, but I can’t swim very well. Every year my family and I go to the sea. I enjoy swimming there, but I am not good at it.

Sometimes I play volleyball. I don’t know all rules of that game and I can’t play well. I have never gone to volleyball courses. But it is funny to play volleyball with friend. I enjoy the game.

My hobbies

I have different types of hobbies. I like to watch films and movies, to paint, to dance. I have many pictures in my thick folder. At my free times I like listening to music. While I watch film, I like to paint, or make something with paper on my table. I also like walking in parks with my mother or friends. I like to spend my holidays close to nature. We usually go to seaside. I love swimming and I can swim not bad. I like to do many photos. Photography is one of my hobbies. Reading is my hobby too. I like reading adventure books, or journals or just something interesting in the internet. I love to skate. I have new pair of roller-skaters and every Sunday and Saturday I go to skate. Biking is one of my favorite hobbies too.

3 friend (dialogue)

Jane: Hello Ann.

Ann: Hello Jane.

Jane: I saw you in the friday’s party, didn’t I?

Ann: Oh yes! You danced very well.

Jane: Oh, thank you Ann. Tomorrow we are going to celebrate second year of our companion in our house. You won’t miss the day, will you?

Ann: Of course I won’t. Jessica is going with us, isn’t she?

Jane: Oh, she isn’t a lover of such kind of days. But it is our day and she can’t miss it, can she?

Jess: Hi friends, what are you talking about?

Jane: Hi Jess. About our day of companion.

Jess: Oh, It’s a great idea. Last year we spent it without any party. We played games all the time. It was awful day, wasn’t it?

Ann: This year we should not do the same mistakes, shall we?

Jess: Jessica played all the time without saying anything. She can’t dance well. Do you think she will come?

Jane: Oh Jess, don’t be so pessimistic!

Jess: Sorry girls. I am worrying about the day’s luck.

Ann: Worry without thinking unnecessary things. Am I right Jane?

Jane: Yes, you are right… Sorry girls, it’s my mom calling. I shall go home and help her with her housework. If I help her, she will let me to go with you, won’t she?

The Wind
by Robert Louis Stevenson

I saw you toss the kites on high

And blow the birds about the sky;
And all around I heard you pass,
Like ladies' skirts across the grass--
O wind, a-blowing all day long,
O wind, that sings so loud a song!

I saw the different things you did,
But always you yourself you hid.
I felt you push, I heard you call,
I could not see yourself at all--
O wind, a-blowing all day long,
O wind, that sings so loud a song!

O you that are so strong and cold,
O blower, are you young or old?
Are you a beast of field and tree,
Or just a stronger child than me?
O wind, a-blowing all day long,
O wind, that sings so loud a song!
